Team Portrait

Northern Rivers Dog Walking was established in April 2021 and quickly grew to fill the gap for professional and reliable dog walkers in our region.

We aim to provide personalised pet care services to the residents of the Northern Rivers, improving the health and enriching the lives of our canine family members. Our services also allow for those in our community who are unable to walk their dogs to fulfil their pet's needs without sacrificing the benefits of animal relationships. Elderly, disabled, unwell, and time-poor people can still love and gain the emotional benefits of having a dog in their life, while ensuring their dog's physical and mental needs are met. Enriched and healthy dogs are also better behaved, resulting in less surrenders to our local rescues.

Our small team is passionate about providing exceptional animal care and improving the standards of animal welfare in our community.

Our Story

Meet The Team

Founder and Dog Trainer

Previously to opening NRDW, Layla was the dog trainer at Petbarn Lismore for three years. She has numerous animal care qualifications, including a Bachelor of Wildlife Science, Cert IV in Captive Animals and a Cert III in Animal Studies. She is currently undertaking a Certicate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training with the Delta Institute.

While Layla is not walking or training dogs, she is usually painting in her art studio and hanging with her 14yr old rescue dog Tess.

Our walker Caitlin couldn't imagine a world without dogs! She has three little fluff balls at home; Teddy, Ollie, and Buddy, and has had dogs her entire life. She has previously volunteered in rescue centres and has professional experience working with dogs in a research facility.

Caitlin loves meeting new dogs and learning all their quirks. She ensures each walk is enjoyable and personal.

Avena is a big animal lover with a particular affinity to dogs. She grew up breeding dogs, being in involved in all aspect of their care. As no surprise, Avena took to any experiences with animals, including pet sitting and volunteering at shelters.

Outside of dog walking, Avena runs her own business as a fine artist.
